As another year rolls by, and the interest in gardening and "GROW YOUR OWN" continues to grow. Gardeners are also becoming more aware of the damage that chemicals have done to the environment and and there is more and more demand for information about biological control.

We are not just a supplier of biological controls. We also grow organic veg from Fletching Glasshouses , and we sell ornamental plants as gifts via the online shop Plants4Presents.co.uk At our nursery we are all firmly committed to grow healthy plants without the use of pesticides. It has been a steep learning curve for us, and every growing season we have had to deal with spider mite, aphids, slugs, whiteflies and caterpillars. We believe that this is all valuable experience we can pass onto our customers.

Last year (2010) the drought in early summer meant that spider mite went rampant in greenhouses and polytunnels - and even outside in some areas. We actually supplied more spider mite control than slug control - which is a first!
We noticed that many gardeners were leaving it very late before trying to treat spider mite, and they were not successful because in the hot dry conditions of late summer the phytoseiulus did not establish well.
So this year we are offering two additional predators for spider mite - one for early season and one for late season. Many people will still have spider mite eggs and young overwintering in their greenhouse, so it would be a good idea to be prepared and put in some preventative measures as soon as we have some sunny days in March More about new ways of controlling red spider mite..
